Course: Brazing of Water Systems and ASME B31.9, Building Services PipingIt is becoming more common for the A/E to require the water systems to be brazed and for the procedures and installers to be qualified. We have available the Brazing Qualification Record (BPQR) and Brazing Procedure Specification (BPS) for purchase when the installer comes for his or her qualification. AWS B2.2 or ASME Section IX is used for the procedure and performance qualifications. There is no formal classroom training required, so the brazer only needs to pass one vertical and one horizontal coupon. This test is given on 1-1/2” L copper tubing using BCuP-2 or -3 or -5 filler metal. We provide onsite an accredited testing facility to destructively and visually inspect the brazements of our students. The brazer will receive a Brazer Performance Test Record (BPTR) and a Log to maintain his/her qualification. If they will braze once each 6 months, he/she will not lose their qualification.
