Medical Gas Training Course - ASSE 6010

Course: NFPA 99-2005 and ASSE 6010 Medical Gas Systems INSTALLER Training and Qualification

California has changed the NFPA 99 code date to 2005 for all new projects sent in for review and approval starting January 1, 2008.  AW Johnson & Associates has training classes for the medical gas system INSTALLER which meets and exceeds the requirements of NFPA 99 and ASSE 6010.  What this means to you is that when you bid on the job for medical gas system installation, new personnel (installers/brazers) will need a 32 hour training and qualification course.

Our class is presented with interaction from the students and instructor.  Levels 1, 2, and 3 installation requirements are gone over with a very large handout for each student to keep.  Each system is discussed followed by students completing a drawing of the system in detail. Architect/Engineer (A/E) drawings are used to show the student typical piping details and what is not included on these drawings but required by NFPA 99.

We have been approved as a training facility by NITC. Each candidate student shall complete and certify that he/she has a minimum of 4 years experience in the installation of piping systems.  This can be normal plumbing or medical gas piping systems, or a combination of the two.

The final day consists of a 100 closed book, multiple choice written examination followed by brazing practice.  We will cut your preliminary coupons at our facility to show completeness of the braze.  The final test (brazed) coupons will be sent to NITC for testing.  When passed, the brazer is furnished with a record of the brazing performance test (BPTR) when both brazed coupons have passed and a photo I.D. wallet card.

The maintenance of the Installer certification is handled by NITC and shall be renewed every 2 years.  Renewal of the brazing certification is required every 6 months.  We will show you how to maintain your cert with NITC in the training class.

See the side bar for the next training dates, costs, sign-up, and materials need by each student for the class.
